Liberal candidate Bonnie Crombie ready to restore trust in Mississauga-Streetsville

(Mississauga) – Liberal candidate Bonnie Crombie said she is running to restore trust to the voters of Mississauga-Streetsville in the 2008 federal election.

“This election is about restoring trust and the duty that politicians have to live up to the trust placed in them by voters,” Crombie said.

“You can't trust the Harper Conservatives on income trusts; you can't trust them on food safety; and you can’t trust them on running an open and accountable government,” she said.

Crombie went on to say, “But the worst betrayal of trust for voters in Mississauga-Streetsville came when the person they elected as their voice in Ottawa crossed the floor to join another party.”

Bonnie, a long-time Mississauga resident and tireless advocate to improve the quality of life in her community, is a committed Liberal. she is especially passionate about Mississauga and Canada and our future.

With a sluggish economy, plant closures and layoffs, Crombie plans to hold the Conservatives accountable for two and half years of inaction. “Mr. Harper has ignored Mississauga and Ontario. His own Finance Minister has told investors to take their money elsewhere -- I say – Mississauga is open for business, it is a great place to invest, and live.”

For twelve straight years Liberal governments balanced the books and grew the economy while expanding social programs. “We need to return Canada back on the path of prosperity and economic well-being while protecting our healthcare and other services necessary for a good quality of life,” Bonnie concluded.

“I deeply believe in our Leader Stéphane Dion, his incredibly strong team, and our campaign to make Canada a richer, greener, and fairer country,” she said. “We have a plan that will help the economy and create jobs; ensure that personal taxes are lowered; and do our part to curb pollution and improve our environment,” said Crombie.

“I, along with Stéphane Dion and his team, will help restore the trust that voters want to have in the government and representatives they elect.”

The election is called for Tuesday, October 14, 2008.
