OTTAWA – In response to yesterday’s budget, Mississauga - Streetsville MP, Bonnie Crombie, Liberal Critic
for Crown Corporations is disappointed with so little action on job creation.

“Mississaugans and Canadians were expecting real action on job creation. Instead, after an extended three
month holiday, this government delivered a flatlined budget with no plan for job creation,” said Mrs. Crombie.
The government’s small job creation targets do not make up for the 300,000 jobs already lost, or for the rise in
unemployment forecasted in the budget.

“During Harper’s three month prorogation, Liberals were working. We made significant recommendations for
jobs of today and tomorrow.” Mrs. Crombie is referring to the three proposals the Liberal Party made in Janaury
on job creation consisting of: Support for Manufacturers, Jobs for Young Canadians and Encouraging
Investment in Start-Up Companies.

“Last month, Mississauga’s very own Jobs Summit echoed the same thoughts as the Liberal Party’s proposals.
The government ignored Mississaugans and all Canadians,” added Mrs. Crombie. As a job creation measure,
the Conservatives say they want to support small business growth, yet they’re bringing in a $13 billion payroll
tax hike that will kill 200,000 small business jobs.

“Canada is slowly recovering from one of the worst recessions in decades. Most economists, however, predict
a jobless recovery, which means despite some progress, the unemployment rate remains high. With no plan for
such a recovery, Liberals cannot support this budget,” concluded Mrs. Crombie.

Liberal Leader Michael Ignatieff announced that the Liberal Party will not be supporting the Government’s
plan, but will not force an unwanted election.
